Shrines

Clearly visible on the edged of roads or on dusty verges Spain is littered with small roadside shrine, often made of wooden crosses, metal stones and concrete, they commemorate lives lost usually in road traffic accidents. in Fuerteventura, where I made this series, the rough and uncompromising terrain marked by these wayside shrines urges in the traveller a sense of caution, and very often an opportunity for inward reflection.
